A WISH

I wish that I could see You,
In the way that You see me
I wish that I could touch you,
In the way You have for me

HYMN OF HOPE

Saviour
Save Me
My soul needs love
But You can see the need in me,
A flame of Your desiring
Help me reach the path of peace
and hide my tears, whilst crying Lord

A PRAYER FOR CREATION

(Psalm 8) (Mary Hobdell)
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens
From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which You have set in place,
What is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that You care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honour
You made him ruler over the works of your hands.
you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds,
and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas
O Lord, our Lord how majestic is your name in all the earth!

A CRY WITHOUT TEARS

I need to listen
To what You tell me
about the pain, and the hurt, that I feel
I need to cry Lord, Cleansing my soul
But without tears in my eyes I cannot start again, Forgive me
I need to touch You and to free my shame
Listen, help me, guide me, feed me, with Your pain
(Save me, lead me, Help me, guide me
Fill my heart with love and peace and hope in Your salvation
Call me, use me, touch me, know me
I am here to serve and feed the seeds of Your creation)
I need to listen (and hear) To what You tell me,
(and know) About the pain and the hurt that I feel
(Only You can understand)
I need to cry Lord, Cleansing my soul
But without tears in my eyes I cannot start again
Forgive me (Forgive me Lord)
Now You have come to meet me
(My Lord)
Enter my life completely
(My Lord)
I need to touch You and to free my shame
(Lord set me free)
Listen, help me, guide me, feed me, With your pain
(Amen, amen, amen, amen)

A PRAYER FOR ALL

(Eclesiasticus 36: 12-17) (The Bishop of Sodor and Man)
"Have mercy, O Lord, upon the people called by thy name,
upon Israel, whom thou hast likened to a first born son
Have pity on the city of thy sanctuary, Jerusalem, the place or thy rest
Fill Zion with the celebration of thy wondrous deeds,
and thy temple with thy glory
Bear witness to those whom thou didst create in the beginning,
and fulfil the prophecies spoken in thy name
Reward those who wait for thee,
and let thy prophets be found trustworthy
Hearken, O Lord, to the prayers or thy servants,
according to the blessing of Aaron for thy people,
and all who are on the earth will know
that thou art the Lord, the God of the ages."

THE ANSWER

(Listen * I can hear * See me * Through my tears
You have answered me * Now I answer You)
I think I know the answer to the question in my mind
And now I see a different world Within a world that's blind
(Listen * I can hear * Touch me * Through my tears)
I only want to know You, and to help You in Your plan
And show the way that You have chosen since the world began
(Help me understand
Take me by the hand)
Show me the new found answers
Teach me to use them wisely
Spread the Word of Truth and might)
Where can I find peace with eyes that can give me vision,
Reason for Your gift of Heaven's light
(Seal with peace With hope and vision,
With the gift of Heaven's light)
I have to see The Truth for me,
The meaning of all that You have sent me to know
With open eyes, I look around at all that you've sent me
And the love that I have found
(If you can ask you will hear a reply
From the wisdom and knowledge on high
Come alive, breathing words that are from the Lord
When He comes to you, You must be ready for Him
Then He can take you to His Holy place
Come alive, Open your eyes, And look, And see His face)
I know I know the answer
To the questions in my mind
And never more will I go hungry,
Thirst for knowledge, Ask for reasons
I have found the answer in You, My Lord
(I have found You have found me)
Listen
I can hear
See me throught my tears
You have answered me
Now I answer You

THE EMPTY VESSEL

(Martin Luther 1483-1546) (Nina Wakeman)
Behold, Lord, an empty vessel that needs to be filled
My Lord, fill it
I am weak in the faith; strenghten me
I am cold in love; warm me and make me fervent,
that my love may go out to my neighbour
I do not have a strong and firm faith;
at times I doubt and am unable to trust you altogether
O Lord, help me
Strengthen my faith and trust in you
In you I have sealed the treasure of all I have
I am poor; you are rich and came to be merciful to the poor
I am a sinner; You are upright
With me, there is abundance of sin;
In you is the fullness of righteousness
Therefore I will remain with you, of whom I can receive,
but to whom I may not give

DEVOTION

(Origin unknown)
(The Bishop of Sodor and Man)
Jesus, my Lord, come to me, comfort me, console me
Visit the hearts in strange lands yearning for you
Visit the dying and those who have died without you
Jesus, my Lord, visit also those who persecute you
Lord Jesus, you are my light in the darkness
You are my warmth in the cold
You are my happiness in sorrow
I asked for strenght that I might achieve;
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey
I asked for health that I might do greater things;
I was given infirmity that I might do better things
I asked for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be wise
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all things
I got nothing I had asked for, but everything that I had hoped for
Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers were answered;
I am, amongst all men, most richly blessed

THE LORD'S PRAYER

(Our Father, Who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done
In earth as it is in Heaven
Give us each day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil
for Thine is the Kingdom
The Power and the Glory
For ever and ever
Amen
For ever and ever
Amen)

PRAYERS OF PROPHETS

(I Chronicles 29: 10b-14) (Mary Hobdell)
"Blessed art thou, O Lord,
the God of Israel our father, for ever and ever
Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory,
and the victory, and the majesty;
for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is thine;
thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all
Both riches and honour come from thee, and thou rulest over all
In thy hand are power and might;
And in thy hand it is to make great and to give strenght to all
And now we thank thee, Our God, and praise thy glorious name
But who am I, and what is my people,
That we should be able thus to offer willingly?
For all things come from thee, and of thy own have we given thee."
I will give thanks to thee, O Lord,
For thought thou wast angry with me, thy anger turned away,
And thou didst comfort me
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid;
For the Lord God is my strenght and my song,
And he has become my salvation
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation
And you will say in that day:
"Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the nations,
proclaim that his name is exalted
Sing praise to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
Let this be known in all the earth
Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel"

And I will always be with you
(Amen)
And know there is a prayer for me
(Amen)
And should I wander from the path
Stay with me
(Amen)
Pray for peace
You and me
Help the world to be free
And with that freedom showing the way
A new found Heaven on earth,
Full of richness, Full of worth
Here to stay
(Show me my life
Your life everlasting
Saving my life
Be there as my new world is starting and stay)
Stay with me
Night and day

(Deep from my heart
Full of love
Full of hope)
Deep from my heart
Full of love
Full of hope
And to know You'll stay with me
(And to know You'll stay with me)

THE ONLY GOD

(St. Francis of Assisi 1181-1226)
(The Bishop of Sodor and Man)
You are holy, Lord, the only God,
and your deeds are wonderful
You are strong
You are great
You are the most high, you are almighty
You, holy Father, are King of Heaven and earth
You are Three and One, Lord God, all good
You are Good, all Good, supreme Good, Lord God, living and true
You are love, You are wisdom
You are humility, You are endurance
You are rest, You are peace
You are joy and gladness
You are justice and moderation
You are all our riches, And you suffice for us
You are beauty
You are gentleness
You are our protector, You are our guardian and defender
You are courage
You are our haven and our hope
You are our faith, our great consolation
You are our eternal life, Great and wonderful Lord,
God almighty, Merciful Saviour
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master, Grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved, as to love,
For it is giving that we receive;
It is pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life

I CAN HEAR YOU

Can You hear me?
Can You hear me?
Will You hear me when I call?
Can You see me?
Will You see me?
Will You catch me as I fall?
Each hour (Of every day)
In time, (With all You say)
You know all right from wrong
(All right from wrong)
Each day (Or every year)
I need (To have You near)
To sing, Praising Your song
(Praising Your song
Can You touch me?
Will You touch me?
Have You touched me)?
Can you hold me?
Even mould me to a shape that makes me whole?
If I'm crying
If I'm trying
Will You help free my soul?
Each hour (Of every day)
In time (with all You say)
You know all right from wrong
(All right from wrong)
Each day (Of every year)
I need (To have You near)
To sing, sing Your song (Sing Your song)
(Hear * Hear me * Hear me call
Hear * Hear me * Hear me call
I'm staying
And praying
Whilst singing
Singing your name
I'm burning
Still learning
Whilst playing
Playing the game (Tell me)
Can You hear me? (Tell me)
Can You see me? (Tell me)
Can You touch me? (Tell me)
Can You feed me? (Help me)
If I call You (Help me)
When I need You (Tell me)
When You need me?
(Show me)
How to serve You
(I can hear You call)
From where I hear Your name,
The Word has the same place here in my new heart
From where You come for me
I know I can see
Now I have a new start
(Can You hear me? Can You hear me?
Can You hear me?)
Can You save me?
Show me how to, show me how to live again
Bring me to You
Keep me with You
Keep me with You
In the everlasting flame
And now (I am with You)
We meet, (In all You do)
And watch each move I make
(Each move I make)
Each day (I live for You)
We are (The chosen few)
You are each step I take (Each step I take)
(Can You hear me? Can You see me?
Will You answer when I call You?
Can you help me when I need you?
Will You listen, Please)
Now You can hear me when I call
Call
And I can hear You call for me

EVENING PRAYER

(part one was written by Robert Louis Stevenson,
and read to his family the night before his sudden death,
part two is a Gaelic Blessing)
(Nina Wakeman)
Go with each of us to rest;
If any awake, temper to them the dark hours of watching;
and when the day returns, return to us, our sun and comforter,
and call us up with morning faces and morning hearts,
eager to labour, eager to be happy,
if happiness should be our portion,
and if the day be marked for sorrow, strong to endure it.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warmly on your face,
the rain fall softly on your fields.
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand
